KAUA‘I GOLF COURSES PLAY HOST TOP COLLEGIATE GOLFERS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR
Kaua‘i, Hawai‘i (May 30, 2019) – With the collegiate golf season recently drawing to a close, it’s important to note that the island of Kaua’i and its collection of outstanding daily-fee and resort courses annually play hosts to top collegiate golfers during conference championships, intercollegiate and invitational tournaments.

Wailua Golf Course and the County of Kaua‘i recently hosted the 2019 Big West Conference Men’s Golf Championship. Played April 29 and 30, the conference championship featured all nine Big West Conference teams and was won by Cal State University Fullerton by 9 strokes over defending conference champion, UC Irvine.
In addition to the Big West Conference Championship, Wailua Golf Course also hosts the John Burns Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Hawaii. Played annually in February, the John Burns Intercollegiate features a 19-team field of top collegiate talent. 2019 marked the 43rd installment of the popular tournament and was won by Arizona State University.
Princeville Makai Golf Club has played host to The Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational for the last eight years and has drawn teams from across the country including the Georgia Institute of Technology, Arizona State University, University of Mississippi, and Pepperdine University to Kaua‘i’s North Shore. Current PGA TOUR stars who have played in The Warrior, include Jon Rahm, Xander Schauffele and Ollie Schniederjans. The 2018 Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational was won by Pepperdine University at 28-under par.

Five Kaua‘i golf courses were named “Best of Hawaii” by Golf Advisor. In a Top 20 listing of the best courses in Hawai‘i, Golf Advisor’s community of golfers voted Princeville Makai Golf Club No. 2, Poipu Bay Golf Course No. 7, Puakea Golf Course No. 13, The Ocean Course at Hokuala No. 17, and Wailua Golf Course No. 19. All five courses exemplify the stunning views and exceptional golf found on the island.
