(HILTON HEAD, S.C.) - Sea Pines Country Club – the lone private club within Sea Pines featuring golf, tennis, multiple pools and fitness – will host the 8th annual Tee It Up for the Troops charity golf tournament on Friday, May 18.
The tournament benefits Tee It Up For the Troops, a 501c charitable organization, which passes along 85% of all contributions to fund initiatives aiding U.S. soldiers who have been wounded, suffer from PTSD and suicide risk, and of course, the families of those who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom. The golf event will include Sea Pines Country Club members playing alongside 60 active duty military personnel from the Beaufort Marine Corps Air Station and Naval Hospital and the Parris Island Marine Corps Recruit Depot.
“We are thrilled to host this incredible event with Tee it Up for the Troops for the eighth year in a row,” says Catherine Daugherty, Director of Membership Relations and Communications at Sea Pines Country Club. “It’s an honor to have the opportunity to raise funds for our country’s service men, women and their families. Our goal is to far exceed the nearly $15,000 we raised last year for the cause – every little bit goes a long way for our military.”
In addition to the golf tournament, Sea Pines Country Club will also host a private cookout and silent auction, featuring assorted contributions from area merchants and other benefactors. The club is currently accepting donations to sponsor holes on the course or goods for prizes which will be given to the troops in attendance. More than $65,000 has been donated to the national organization over the past seven years Sea Pines Country Club has hosted the event.
